"As a runner of over 30 years and representing England at national level, I have used a few Sports Massage Therapists. Gary is by far the best! His knowledge of anatomy and physiology is outstanding, producing positive results, both during hard training blocks and injury recovery. I also use Gary for Strength and Conditioning. In the short time we have been working together, I have found myself to be far more injury resilient, also resulting in a more efficient running style."
Jackie Rockliffe - England Age Group Athlete
We have a variety of techniques and treatments to achieve these benefits.
The following techniques can be used both individually, or combined as part of a Sports Massage treatment.
Sports/Deep Tissue Massage - A variety of techniques where the therapist uses their hands to promote blood circulation and reduce muscle tension. This is a physical treatment used by therapists to treat musculoskeletal pain, by manipulating muscles and mobilising joints.
Remedial Massage/Exercise - Using knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology to determine the best care to assist a clients recovery from injury. A more in-depth assessment of a client may be performed to formulate a treatment and rehabilitation plan.
Cupping/RockPods - A suction technique using silicone ‘’cups’’ or RockPods to decompress underlying tissue. Completely pain free RockPods loosen and lift connective tissue, increasing blood and lymph flow to the skin and muscles. This combination stimulates the bodies healing process to treat chronic pain, relieve tension and sedate the nervous system pain, such as sciatica.
RockBlades (IASTM) - Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation is a method that has been around for a long time. Specially designed tools apply longitude pressure, facilitating the therapists ability to reduce adhesions within the soft tissue and increase healing rates. A great treatment to complement a Sports Massage which is effective, yet hard to come by.
Theragun - The Theragun is the Rolls Royce of percussion therapy. A hand held gun is used to to penetrate the muscles enhancing performance and recovery. Percussion treatment can be quite invasive and has the ‘marmite’ effect with some of my clients. Love it or hate it, this instrument massages the muscle at 40 times per second providing an excellent, effective massage treatment.
Kinesiology Taping - RockTape is the worlds best kinesiology tape. It can be used to treat and assist with a variety of sports and non-sporting injuries. RockTape lifts the skin away from the muscle and fascia creating a decompression effect. It has 3 main benefits, increasing blood and lymphatic flow, increasing glide between tissue layers and improved neurological effect. RockTape is a one way ticket to get you, and keep you moving!
